Pottery Glazes are a low fire glaze (shelf cone 06) with a high fire look. Pottery Glazes SHOULD NOT be clear glazed even when used with Gare’s Fun Strokes. They consist of colors inspired by nature and have a beautiful multi-tone effect with a high gloss shine. With Pottery Glazes, you can create a real stoneware pottery look.
Benefits:
• Colors inspired by nature
• Multi-tone effect with 3 coats of glaze
• Easy to use
• No clear glaze needed
• Non-Toxic and dinnerware safe
Product Preparation:
Shake or stir well. If thick, may be thinned with water.
Ware Preparation:
Apply to shelf cone 04 bisque. Sponge the ware to remove dust before glazing.
Brush :
Mop/glaze Brush
Application:
Use a fully loaded mop/glaze brush. Fully loaded means glaze should thoroughly coat ALL bristles of your brush – inside and out. Brush usage is critical to the success of Pottery Glaze coverage. A round or flat brush should not be used. Brush on three generous coats allowing each coat to dry to the touch before applying the next coat. If you are a “light applicator”, which means you apply the glaze thinner than average, you may want to try applying four coats. For best results, brush in the same direction versus criss-cross or circular. Results may vary due to application, firing schedule or kiln maintenance.
Firing Range:
Shelf cone 06.
Possible Problems:
Color doesn't look like the technique photo - Not enough coats of glaze, application was too light or improper firing.

Brush
Mop/glaze Brush
Application:
Pour glaze from top of jar into a separate container leaving a small amount of glaze and the crystals in the bottom of the jar. Using a mop/glaze brush, apply two (2) coats of the poured out glaze to your piece. It is okay if there are some small crystals in these coats. Using a stiff fan brush, mix the crystals and glaze remaining in the original jar. Be sure to get all the crystals mixed
into the glaze. Apply your third and final coat to your piece. Spread the crystals as evenly as possible. It is helpful to dab the crystals on with the brush instead of dragging the brush. Do notplace crystals on the bottom of the piece or within 1/8” of the bottom of a vertical piece because the piece may stick to the stilt or kiln shelf.
Firing Range:
Shelf cone 06.
Possible Problems:
Glaze feet after firing - Crystals not tapered from the bottom of the piece flowed downward to create glaze drips.
Crawling – Too many crystals concentrated in one area
