Pottery Glazes are a low fire glaze (shelf cone 06) with a high fire look. Pottery Glazes SHOULD NOT be clear glazed even when used with Gare’s Fun Strokes. They consist of colors inspired by nature and have a beautiful multi-tone effect with a high gloss shine. With Pottery Glazes, you can create a real stoneware pottery look.

Benefits:
• Colors inspired by nature
• Multi-tone effect with 3 coats of glaze
• Easy to use
• No clear glaze needed
• Non-Toxic and dinnerware safe

Product Preparation:
Shake or stir well. If thick, may be thinned with water.

Ware Preparation:
Apply to shelf cone 04 bisque. Sponge the ware to remove dust before glazing.

Brush :
Mop/glaze Brush

Application:
Use a fully loaded mop/glaze brush. Fully loaded means glaze should thoroughly coat ALL bristles of your brush – inside and out. Brush usage is critical to the success of Pottery Glaze coverage. A round or flat brush should not be used. Brush on three generous coats allowing each coat to dry to the touch before applying the next coat. If you are a “light applicator”, which means you apply the glaze thinner than average, you may want to try applying four coats. For best results, brush in the same direction versus criss-cross or circular. Results may vary due to application, firing schedule or kiln maintenance.

Firing Range:
Shelf cone 06.

Possible Problems:
Color doesn't look like the technique photo - Not enough coats of glaze, application was too light or improper firing.
Pottery Crystal Glazes are non-toxic and dinnerware safe. With Pottery Crystal Glazes, you can create individual works of art bursting with deep, rich colors. No two pieces will ever look exactly the same. Pottery Crystal Glazes can be used on their own or as an accent with the Pottery Glazes. Pottery Crystal Glazes SHOULD NOT be dipped into clear glaze.

Benefits:
• Colors inspired by nature
• Unique results every time
• Easy to use
• No clear glaze needed
• Non-Toxic and dinnerware safe

Product Preparation:
Open the Pottery Crystal Glaze jar WITHOUT SHAKING.

Ware Preparation:
Apply to shelf cone 04 bisque. Sponge the ware to remove dust before glazing.

Brush
Mop/glaze Brush

Application:
Pour glaze from top of jar into a separate container leaving a small amount of glaze and the crystals in the bottom of the jar. Using a mop/glaze brush, apply two (2) coats of the poured out glaze to your piece. It is okay if there are some small crystals in these coats. Using a stiff fan brush, mix the crystals and glaze remaining in the original jar. Be sure to get all the crystals mixed
into the glaze. Apply your third and final coat to your piece. Spread the crystals as evenly as possible. It is helpful to dab the crystals on with the brush instead of dragging the brush. Do notplace crystals on the bottom of the piece or within 1/8” of the bottom of a vertical piece because the piece may stick to the stilt or kiln shelf.

Firing Range:
Shelf cone 06.

Possible Problems:

Glaze feet after firing - Crystals not tapered from the bottom of the piece flowed downward to create glaze drips.

Crawling – Too many crystals concentrated in one area
Pottery Crushed Crystal Glazes are non-toxic and dinnerware safe. Pottery Crushed Crystal Glazes are easy to use – three generous coats with a mop brush and fire for interesting effects.  Pottery Crushed Crystal Glazes can be used on their own or as an accent with the Pottery Glazes. Pottery Crushed Crystal Glazes SHOULD NOT be dipped.

Benefits:
• Colors inspired by nature
• Unique results every time
• Easy to use
• No clear glaze needed
• Non-Toxic and dinnerware safe

Product Preparation:
Shake container well before each use.

Brush usage is critical to the success of Pottery Crushed Crystal Glazes. A round or flat brush should not be used. Brush on three (3) generous coats allowing each coat to dry to the touch before applying the next coat. If you are a “light applicator”,
which means you apply the glaze coats thinner than average, you may want to try four (4) coats.

Firing Range:
Shelf cone 06.

Possible Problems:
Glaze feet after firing - Crystals not tapered from the bottom of the piece flowed downward to create glaze drips.

Benefits:
• Fade resistant and lightfast
• Fired color, better then acrylics for outdoor use
• Easy to use
• Wide selection of color
• Non-Toxic

• Creamy consistency for great brush ability
• Do not require a scrub coat, prep coat or thinning
• Layer many coats without fear of flaking or shivering. You can apply up to 80 coats, which is perfect for the Mishima technique.
• 3 coats of a light shade will cover 3 coats of a dark shade and achieve opaque coverage
• May be used on stoneware clay body, most colors will create a wonderful creamy satin matte finish when high fired.

Product Preparation:
Stir or mix well. If they are too thick, replace cap and shake vigorously. They will become creamier and thinner when shaken.

Ware Preparation:

Brush :
Use the largest soft bristle brush possible for smooth, even coverage.

Application:
May be brushed, sponged, spattered, stippled, or stenciled. They can be used for antiquing, design work, marbleizing, sgrafitto techniques and many more.

Firing Range:

Possible Problems:
Color does not match the chip - Usually this indicates the color was underfired Milky appearance - can result from underfiring or too heavy glaze application. Peeling, chipping, shivering - can be caused by any of the following:
A) Dust or grease on the surface of the ware.
B) Too heavy glaze application over the underglaze.
C) Incompatibility of the clay body with either the underglaze or the glaze
D) polishing of the clay body before application of the underglaze.
Color deficiency - Can result from the underglaze being applied too thin. Do not apply the first coat with water. Be sure to follow label directions for proper number of coats.
Mix-It is a specialty product used primarily as an extender. Mix-It will revitalize and re-constitute almost any Gare fired product that has dried out or settled after having been opened and placed back on the shelf.   Mix-it combined with Fun Strokes provides for smoother brushwork. Magic Flow is a non-toxic, dinnerware safe glaze and is intended as an accent glaze to be applied over other glazes such as Pottery Glazes.
